I’m often told ‘you’re doing a good job’ as a Care Partner. It is always nice to receive praise from other people but my professional background requires a little more than that.
I have no problem with my role as Maureen’s Care Partner being seen as a job. It’s a straightforward way in which to explore my role. Therefore I need a Job Description that defines my role and determines my duties. I also need a mechanism for Performance Appraisal to help determine if I am actually ‘doing a good job’. Perhaps, it is also time to put the performance of others under the spotlight to see if they are doing a good job in supporting us both.
Paul Dare I say it, but this seems to me to push the ‘job’ idea too far. Or if you want to keep it, you’re self-employed, so there’s noone out there to give you a jd and appraisal. Isn’t the issue how to get constructive feedback on how you’re doing? All I can say from afar is that I’m constantly amazed at your resilience and willingness to learn. But then I’m only getting your reports!
I’m giving away my tix for WHam v Watford tomorrow, as I’ll be travelling to Oxford. But already I’m v unhappy with the new stadium, and not impressed by most of Slavan’s new recruits.
all best Tom

Thanks Tom you remain a Professor of Lifelong Learning with your constructive feedback. I knew someone would help me to clarify my thinking on this one. On the football front imagine it’s like to have Sky Blue blood running through your veins: we’ll be back!
